THE RETURN OF THE FLYING FLEET

Postby Wildstallion2 » Mon Oct 08, 2018 8:09 pm

A School that's has a Rich History in Football, they defeated teams like Florida State, South Carolina, and Clemson. They are now returning to their Football Roots, The Flying Fleet of Erskine College. https://erskinesports.com/index.aspx?path=football The Seminoles went 7-1 in 1948, losing only to Erskine a week after that season-opening 30-0 victory – over Cumberland. Flying Fleet football was at its best between 1917 and 1921. Multi-sport star Dode Phillips led the team to wins over South Carolina (14-13 in 1917) and Clemson (13-0 in 1921). They will need Coaches, they will need Football Players, and they will need Cheer Leaders.

wow hard to believe but it will mean more high school players can play some more ball. At just 600 students I wonder if they will expand enrollment and housing numbers?

Awesome for the school. Every smaller school in the state probbaly is going to have to take another serious consideration at football now. Take note College of Charleston, USC Beaufort, USC Upstate, Bob Jones, Anderson Collage.
Never be diffrent unless diffrent is much, much better.

Why would smaller schools need to look at football? The cost of having a football team is very costly. C of C and USC Upstate are not that small btw.

Alumni are probably gonna jump on the train pretty quickly, and it brings in a fair amount of kids. Also,i didn't say thoe other wlscjools will add it...But if the team does well and wins? Probably every AD of a colege that doesn't have FB will think "what if we could do that?"

Winthrop!
Winthrop has been billy-sitting-around for far too long w/o a football team. They Being as close to Charlotte as RH is they would attract talent here. Plenty of overlooked talent in the area as well. You look at Coastal when they were good. Good players wanted to come and be close to the beach and at a good school. The kids who like the urban scene and such will be attracted to a Winthrop and Charlotte. Charlotte just needs a better coaching staff. No other well known school in the city and plenty of overlooked athletes who need that small college to just give them a ****
As for Erskine - awesome for them. I hope they do well!

BOB JONES with football? That’s a funny thought. I did tackle one of their students for following me around Haywood Mall one afternoon insisting I be “saved”...

Hopefully this will force Anderson University to add a football team.
