Really feel like they must go back to point system. They clearly got the at large pick wrong. You now are just letting teams in under this new region finish crap. Hillcrest got screwed (BIG TIME) SMH!

Who did Hillcrest beat, Mauldin twice, Woodmont, Laurens, and Riverside.

Spring Valley won 7 games against better teams.

So how is it not fair?

Spring Valley beat a 0-10 LE
Beat a 1-9 RNE.....
Sumter has already shut them out about 3 weeks ago 38-0 , heard it could have been a lot worse.

Hillcrest played much better teams than Spring Valley has and it’s not even close. Niether team had a big win really. I would have flipped a coin between those two. Not going to matter either way.

In a way it's a beauty contest that is being contested by a bunch of donkeys. It doesn't matter. Other than just saying you are a playoff team, in this age where half the teams in the playoffs shouldn't be there anyway, is it actually even worth it to go be a sacrificial lamb for some #1 seed? Just call it a year and get to work to be better for next year.

But how much do you reward losing? Hillcrest played really tough teams, but didn’t win, and unfortunately for them they were region games. Hillcrest finished tied for 5th place in their region. They may have played ‘tougher’ teams, even played them close, but didn’t win. Spring Valley finished tied for 2nd, 7-3 overall, and won the games they needed to. Spring Valley deserves it. Hillcrest has a case to be there too. Spring Valley won the close games. Hillcrest didn’t. I feel the at large spot based on how the league split it up...is correct.

I don’t agree with how the at large berths were split up. With Region 4 being the hybrid region, Spring Valley should have also been considered for the lower state at large spot. I thought Spring Valley could have went lower state and maybe Hillcrest goes upper state.

Let's just let everybody in. We are so close to it now anyway. And I'm sure Riverside played somebody close for a half, so with a tip if the hat to the Bernie Sanders vision for America, all teams should be in just for drawing a breath.

Not everybody!! Only teams with a winning record should be in the playoffs.

Clover had no business even having a chance, but those idiots think the future is bright. Clover will not be any better off next year either. My feeling is take the top 20 teams in each Class and let them battle it out. You either earn your way by play the top teams or your out. This BS of playing 2,3,and 4 A non region teams to make their record look better would be over and teams like Clover, Mauldin and Hillcrest would not have a chance with a wildcard.
This is a mugging! Now fork it over, or stick a fork in it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could do what Indiana and Michigan do and play a 9 game regular season schedule with everyone making the playoffs in week 10. I'm not 100% sure how they seed it or structure the playoff format.

With 50 teams in 5A you could do a 64 team bracket with the top 14 getting byes. But who gets the byes? Looking at the current region set up you could give the #1 and #2 region finishers each the byes and then everyone else gets seeded in per region finish.

Pro's - eliminates any who got in playoff arguments.

Con's - every school now loses a non-region regular season game, the HSL get more $$$$, IF you seed it statewide you could be in for some horrible first round games travel wise that would be blowouts anyways.

The fact is Hillcrest is a good team in a tough region. There is a strong reality that region 2 wins three of the four match ups with region 1 Friday night. Heck, region 2 could have 3 of the 4 semi final spots covered by Thanksgiving.

Same thing happens in all sports. Some regions are just going to be stronger than others in some sports, in some cases across the board.
