Two things not in question. One, this year's offense was the best ever for South Pointe. I believe I brought that up before 5thqtr did this year right after the NW game only because he was being cautious about mentioning it. Two, BT was the best ever. I thought in 2008 Gilmore had amazing stats when the avg of his total rushing and passing attempts was 9.14 yards and scoring a td once every 8.97 rush and pass attempt. Kendrick bested it with 10.37 yards per rush and pass attempt and scoring once every 7.48 of those plays. Those are video game numbers.

I didn't even realize how amazing DK's numbers were. Over 10 yards per passing attempt. Worley never did that. Nor Rudolph, Ruff, Cole Martin or anyone else in York county I could find. And he also ran for over 10 yards per carry. I don't know if there has been a 1000 yard rusher around here who has done that. Yay Stewart? (No stats). Closest TD per touch is Rudolph at 7.64. He accounted for an incredible 80 in 611 plays as a senior. I should have been looking at this before now.

Yay had over 1000 yards at 14 yards per carry and scored once every 4 running plays his senior year. That is going off my memory. That was made even more amazing as he was a starter on defense as well. Still his broken arm in preseason cost him the ability to attempt passes. He had 3 50 plus yard td runs in the infamous Spartanburg game.

What makes Kendrick's stats amazing was that he was an every down qb and not a change up qb. He still had those amazing stats running and passing. His array of great teammates made that possible as his stats are a reflection of having a good offensive line, receiving corp, and good tailbacks. He was amazing himself as he had to balance his instinct to run vs. being patient with the pass.

The Spartanburg announcers after that infamous game said they had seen Steve Davis, but they had never seen anything like Jatavious Stewart. Davis ran a 4.31 and they had no doubt Stewart was faster. He played at the same time we had the nation's #1 recruit on one side of town and the Gatorade national POY on the other, but Stewart was my favorite player to watch, and still ranks with DK and Dupree Hart to me. And he had 1 TD I know of that year that was given to someone else. They never did change it.

Yay was amazing! He was so good in fact, I am of the opinion had he played @ SP he would have been as effective as Gilmore. Remember they really would have liked to have had SG5 on defense. Think about that secondary: Stephon Gilmore, Devonte Holloman and Pat Burris!
I just can't recall how much he threw the ball. I think there was another kid they would bring in on passing down ( Bearcats )? But, sheer speed option and zone read QB play..................he could have guided them just as well!

Yay was an outstanding DB himself. He reminded me of Jonathan Heffney, only faster. I'm not sure about a passing QB on that team. A lot of years, a lot of games. Randall Dixon maybe? I'm sure Mania remembers that better than I do

It was Randall Dixon who ended up at Chowan College.
