Chesnee High Sports

Chesnee High School is the smallest 3A school in the state with 651 students but they are doing well in several sports.
Varsity Girls Golf team defeated Chapman for Region II 3A title. This is Chesnee girls first ever golf team.
Chesnee JV girls volleyball team also defeated Chapman for Region II 3A title to wrap up undefeated region season.
Chesnee Varsity girls volleyball team played Chapman for Region II 3A title but came up short 3-1 to finish second. Chesnee has only one senior and will host first round playoff game.
Chesnee High cheerleaders are doing well in competition with first place at Woodruff and a second place in Columbia.
Chesnee JV football team is loaded and doing well. They are very athletic with several great skill players. Soph. WR Alijah Means 6′4 has scored over 15 td’s as the Eagles have defeated Walhalla, Woodruff, Landrum, Blacksburg and Southside (averaging around 40 points per game). Chesnee is also big up front. Looking forward to seeing these guys on varsity for a few years.
Chesnee High varsity football has not done as well. The season looked very promising in the off season (especially with 3 Gaffney transfers - 2 WR and RB) But that didn’t pan out and they are no longer on the team. We also had to forfeit 41-27 win over Christ Church (Second game of the season). I think it is the first time Chesnee has ever had to forfeit a football game. Many starters have quit the team and injuries have hampered the Eagles. We only have a hand full of seniors starting, and JV’s have been called up to help out. Chesnee is very young (4 soph. OL) and have taken it on the chin against Broome and Southside. Hats off to Broome Coach Lynn Fleming for not running up the score. Can’t say the same about Southside as they went for 2 points on every td after missing PAT on second td. Left starters in the whole game (Including RB Bennett) in 59-6 loss. Chesnee had their chances against Landrum (Inside red zone three times) came away with no tds in 21-13 loss, and led a big and talented Blacksburg team 20-0 late in the third period, but lost 21-20. Blacksburg deserves all the credit for not giving up. However, Chesnee can still make the playoffs win a win at Carolina. If this young teams shows up and play hard they should pull it out. Another key factor is starting QB Kyler Reagan from last season had surgery and has played in just a few games at receiver this season, and is currently out with an injury.
God Bless and Go Chesnee Eagles
