Reclassification

Heard a rumor that the proposed reclassification for next two years may not happen and the SCHSL may propose to go back to last years classification....anyone else heard this? If it is true why now?

well you are a couple of months behind in this rumor...it was heard by the appeals committee again when all the Spartanburg Districts & Greenwood District ganged up to make a presentation to them about how unfair it was for Union County to win their appeal & everyone else to be denied. It was unanimous that the decision stand & now we are waiting to see if Spartanburg 3 & Greenwood’s District files for an injunction. It was supposed to have happened by now but with the AD’s conference this weekend who knows. Honestly I do not see it changing.

The injunction will be filed today, according to sources. It will be interesting to see what a judge does with it.

Well an injunction has to be requested from a Judge in open court, none was filed today & from the source I have, none will be. Seems those involved have decided to cut their losses & buck up for 2 years then put a proposal together for next years realignment meetings. This seems to be the better plan for the long run & it doesn't screw over the other 200 schools. There was a proposal made at the legislative assembly last night to require realignment to have at least 5 football playing schools in each region, but that was shot down

From what I’ve been told new realignment won’t happen and everyone will go back to old realignment for 2 years and then realign again....also teams will have to play same schedule they played the last 2 years.

That is not what the injunction is asking for, you should really go back and read it. It only asks that Union County be placed back in Region 2 AAAA, it does not ask for realignment to be frozen. This actually gives it a better shot at being upheld by a Judge because now there will not be mass contractual issues with teams playing these out of state teams.

The League will not do it is not being asked to do,they will leave it up to those few schools to realign their schedules only which will not be that difficult.

Odd how things may work out. Object of this appears to be Union dropping back to 3A. But in football, if they realign to regions from the last two years their schedule actually get easier. They have Greer, and then the Greenville County schools. Eastside had a good year last year, but lost a ton and won't be nearly as good as they were. Funny how things work out sometimes.
